Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) more popularly known as her real title Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter born in Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist affiliated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. The label debuted her first EP titled Pho in October 2016, and she was able to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she launched her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to upload her music via the internet including her independently release single Bound. The song Sweat it part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then, wanted to have her perform on Rihanna references. In December 2008, it was revealed that Rihanna had been hired by Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 21, 2016, she released her debut EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. in 2018, the singer-songwriter appeared on two tracks with EarthGang and EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, and Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music clip was then followed by a short video in September. Then on November 9, she released two additional singles, the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. In November 13, she came out with two additional singles, No One or Pedigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole in the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16th, and she released the song as a solo single for her first album. This track, which was launched with a music video on YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been watched over three million times over the first 7 days. She supported the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of 2018.
